I work up and down Macquaire St in cafes for my office and at the con, and in cafes and in the churches, and in cafes and at the Dendy, and in cafes and at the Australia Club (no, I don’t work at the Australia Club).
At the Sydney Conservatorium of Music I am on the CSU team with Kathryn Lynch and Con students. Our days range from weekdays to every Sunday morning, and performances on weekends and nights. I am the Minister at St Stephen’s Uniting Church in Macquarie St which is just up from the Con and opposite Parliament House. Con students regularly perform in the church, sing in our choir, play the organ, pray there, rehearse there and come back as post-graduates in opera companies.
My background is in education and theology, and my foreground is anywhere where I can see and be in trees or the surf.
Mission Worker - Kathryn Lynch
Hi I'm Kathryn, I am a CSU Worker at the University of Sydney and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. I'm the friendly face you’ll see at Bible Studies, social events and O-Days :) I love having a chat with anyone, and especially love hearing people’s stories.
I am a classic Church Nerd – you’ll find me at St Stephen’s Uniting Church on Sunday mornings and Burwood Uniting Church on Sunday evenings. I am also a Lay Preacher, so from time to time I may be at your church filling in for your regular Minister and leading worship or preaching the sermon. I especially love the stories of the Old Testament, with its wild tales of women wielding tent pegs and left-handed assassins; and its stories of men and women who will follow the sound of God’s call to new and unexpected places.
I am studying theology, although I still think of myself as an accountant (let’s just up the nerd factor….), which I was for many years. I sing loudly and sometimes in tune, and I play the piano badly. My favourite weekends are spent playing board games with friends.
